Take the Philly Fan Poll

On this page we will describe our background and philosophy.

Our Mission

Philly of the South Eagles Fan Club Inc. seeks to promote the growth of a fan club that encourages fan support for the NFL Philadelphia Eagles football team specifically in Tampa, Florida and surrounding communities and to provide opportunities for community based fans to meet throughout the year to support the Philadelphia Eagles, to provide opportunities for participation in club travel to locations where the Philadelphia Eagles are playing, and to encourage other such fan clubs
throughout the world to interact and participate in such support of this team.

Club History
The story of Philly of the South Eagles Fan Club is truly a work in progress. Since the beginning of the Philadelphia Eagles 1995 season, the club has grown from a handful to several hundred strong. Although we live in Tampa, FL, we proudly carry on the Eagle tradition by bringing a passion to the game that only Philly fans can generate and appreciate.

The year was 1995. Three guys from Philly hanging out at a sports bar called Goodfellas were ready to watch Ray Rhodes coach his first game as head of the Philadelphia Eagles. His big free agent catch, Ricky Waters (RB # 32) was also making his first start. The team on the other side of the ball that day was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - talk about a twist of fate. Our club was born during that Eagles / Bucs game. The Buccaneers won the game 21 to 6, but the seed had been planted. Watching the game with other Birds' fans was so much fun that we decided to meet for all Eagles games. We also began networking across the Tampa Bay area: all of us keeping an eye out for anyone wearing Eagle GREEN. Sometimes this meant chasing down someone wearing an Eagles sweatshirt in the mall or getting someone with an Eagles license plate to pull off the road. And through our efforts Philly of the South did grow! By the end of our second season, the club had 20 regular members.

During the club's third season, we moved to our present home, Bilmar Station, which was quickly nicknamed "the nest." Here we had more "room to grow": our own private room, our own HD big screen TV, great food and drinks, and friendly service. We continued to spread the news about the club through word of mouth. Local TV / radio coverage and newspaper articles also helped get the word out. By year four we had crowds on game day that ranged from 40 to well over 100. Bilmar Station even began to take on the rowdy feel of the "700 level" during Eagles' football games. We added very popular, half-time raffles of Eagle gear and organized road trips to Jacksonville and Miami. On several occasions over the past few seasons, we have even had ex-Eagle players stop by Bilmar to take in an Eagles' game with our members.

Over the last few seasons the club has grown so large that in 2003 we decided to incorporate as a not-for-profit institution. This step openly and publicly confirms that all club proceeds are used exclusively for club purposes. In November 2003 our first executive board was elected to oversee the management of club affairs. Collectively, these actions ensure that our members will ALWAYS have a voice in club functions.

As we head into our 10th season (and 8th season at Bilmar's), the "sky is the limit" and so is the fun with this fantastic group of die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fans. We have evolved into a real family over the years, not just a bunch of football fans. Please join us for all Eagles' games and soak up the Philly-charged atmosphere. There is ALWAYS room for one more EAGLE FAN in our nest!
